i have just noticed that i have gear lube dripping from behind the prop. took the prop off and there is lube in the bottom of the housing. i havent run it since putting it away and winterizing last season. could this be the drive shaft seals or worse ?? thanx  sorry... 1985 johnson 70 hp

Hello will need to check color of oil and verify if gear oil or residual fogging oil

 residual fogging oil??  Could someone explain this Please.
 Would i find this behind the prop on the gearcase on johnson 25 J25RCSA 1980.

The motor should always be stored in the vertical position or even further tilted so the prop shaft is down at the rear so any water drains off completely from exhaust tube at prop,water not drained will eventually corode the prop bearing resulting in oil leakage/water penetration of gearbox
